It’s good to talk - Sunderland business clinic launches

SUNDERLAND University’s Business School is to set up a new sounding board for firms to come and discuss their business issues.

The Business Clinic will be launched this month and will aim to source relevant experts to solve employer’s problems - with a guarantee that each enquiry will have a reply within 24 hours and a meeting within a week.

In addition, the clinic will also arrange work experience for business school students and will put in place longer-term projects with local businesses.

Derek Watson, Head of the Business Clinic at the University of Sunderland Business School, said: “The University of Sunderland Business School has brought together specialists in business practice, marketing, finance, management and human resources, who will all make themselves available to assist local companies.

“It means north east based businesses benefit from the expertise of commercially aware academics and students working with them to drive their business forward.”

Employers will be able to visit the clinic every Thursday morning to talk over any business issue.

The team will then investigate the possibility of any potential funding and a key academic with relevant expertise will offer initial advice.

Mr Watson added: “If any business has a problem then they are welcome to get in touch with the Business Clinic.

“We’ll set up an appointment and deal with your enquiry speedily and effectively. Businesses could have highly skilled advice and expertise working with them from one day to four years.”
