TTE takes North East manufacturing message to Brussels
TTE Technical Training Group Managing Director Keith Hunter championed the North East in Brussels as part of a delegation to the European Parliament promoting British manufacturing and skills.
As part of the UK manufacturing organisation EEF delegation, Keith met with senior MEPs and European Commission delegates to discuss how Europe can support the manufacturing sector and the importance of advanced engineering.
During the visit the delegation and EU representatives discussed a range of policy issues that affect UK industry.
The delegation also took part in detailed briefings about the legislative process in Europe and the impact laws made by the European Parliament have on the UK.
Keith Hunter, Managing Director of Middlesbrough-based The TTE Technical Training Group, said: “This was a very eye opening visit, which revealed that, although European politics is highly complex and bureaucratic it does provide the opportunity for effective engagement that can help shape the laws and directives that affect UK industry.
“Working closely with UK representatives in the European Parliament does allow business to get its message across to those conceiving legislation.”
He added: “The MEPs I met were very receptive to my views on the importance of advanced manufacturing to the economy and the need for skilled apprentices to maintain the flow of qualified and competent technicians to service these sectors.
