Region enjoying a digital revolution
THE REGION is enjoying an Industrial Revolution for the digital age, according to leading industry figures.
In a meeting with local MEP Fiona Hall in Gateshead last week, representatives from IT companies across the region outlined the importance of their work to the North East.
Fiona Hall, said: “It is clear that we have a huge pool of IT, software and games talent in the North East. I am struck by the passion and ambition that these companies are showing and I hope they can play a key role in the future prosperity of the region.
“The industry is growing year on year and today’s meeting gives me a better idea of how I can help to ensure that continues.”
Andy Hudson, Founder of Broadband Computer Company, said: “There is a new industrial revolution going on up here in our region - but rather than being forged by the likes of the Stephenson Family from Iron Coal and Steel in furnaces - It occurs from the intellectual endeavour of a few folks with laptops and blossoms from there.
“I’m pleased that Fiona was able to meet with us today so that she is in a better position to assist our endeavours. It is vital that the digital sector is given the necessary support to ensure future success.”
