Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee in bizarre feud with SeaWorld
Tommy Lee, the rock drummer and ex-husband of the actress Pamela Anderson, has become embroiled in a bizarre dispute over the artificial insemination of killer whales at a Florida theme park.
It began when SeaWorld, the chain of aquatic parks, announced staff would no longer have contact with Tilikum, a six-ton bull orca in its centre in Orlando, Florida, that has killed three people this year.
Lee, 48, wrote to the company on behalf of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) suggesting this could not be true, as the company took a hands-on approach to using the whale as its “chief sperm bank”.
“The way you get his sperm is by having someone get in the pool and masturbate him using a cow vagina filled with hot water,” Lee wrote.
Referring to his debauched days in Motley Crue, the 1980s metal band, he wrote: “Even during my wildest days with Motley Crue, I never could’ve imagined something so sick and twisted.
“Simply put, how can SeaWorld claim that trainers no longer have direct contact with this whale …?”
The company denied the claim, describing it as “beyond ludicrous.”
“Our trainers do not now nor have they ever entered the water with Tilikum for this purpose”, a spokesman said.
However, Lee reportedly wrote again, asking: “How about PETA and I come to SeaWorld and videotape the process, and then people can decide how natural it is?”
SeaWorld declined to respond to the second question.
