Shopping centre revamp brings jobs to North Tyneside
NORTH Tyneside’s Elected Mayor has welcomed plans for a multimillion-pound investment to refurbish a North Shields shopping centre.
Glasgow based property development and investment company Baronsgate Estates this week submitted plans to North Tyneside Council to redevelop the Beacon Shopping Centre.
The new Beacon Centre will increase by approximately 10,000 sq ft and will see the creation of a second mall, an anchor store, 10 shop units and community facilities.
Elected Mayor Linda Arkley said: “I am delighted that Baronsgate Estates are supporting our commitment to regenerate North Shields with their investment plans.
“The new Beacon Centre will ensure the stability and vibrancy of the town centre of North Shields for the future in addition to creating numerous jobs throughout the redevelopment phase and in the new businesses that will open thereafter.”
