Newcastle business helps clients raise over £2 million

A NORTH East business that helps others become investor-ready and cope with growth has raised £2.2 million for clients in its first year of trading.

Newcastle based Sherpa Business Consultancy raised the capital through a combination of private investment and the Finance for Business venture capital programme in the North East.

Pete Watson, Managing Director of Sherpa, said: “Our role is to help businesses achieve growth potential by raising finance, increasing sales and developing people and we have had an extremely successful twelve months.

“There is a great deal of creative and digital talent within the region and we are working closely with key players to ensure they keep focused and increase their profitability despite the current economic climate.

“With the right business offer, a strong management team and a well crafted application, there is funding to be had and we can advise on how to secure this.”

Sherpa specialises in high growth sectors and in the past year has seen rapid growth particularly with digital technology, games, software and media businesses.

Atlas is one company that has benefited from working with the team.

Phil Richardson, Managing Director at Atlas Infrastructure Management Ltd, added: “With Sherpa’s support we have raised £100,000 through the Proof of Concept fund through Northstar Ventures.”

“We are now going for follow on funding through angel and VC funds to grow the business.

“Ultimately we want to see high performing businesses that are creating jobs and have little or no reliance on the public sector – and we are well on the way to making that a reality.”
