UK unemployment rises again
THE Office for National Statistics (ONS) has said that UK unemployment rose by 49,000 to almost 2.5 million in the three months to the end of November.
One in five 16 to 24-year-olds are now out of work. The jobless total for people in this age group increased from 32,000 to 951,000, the highest figure since records began in 1992.
Despite the rise, the unemployment rate in the UK remained at 7.9%.
Prime Minister David Cameron said any rise in unemployment was a “huge concern”.
He said that there were some “very disappointing” figures, particularly on youth unemployment.
Labour leader Ed Miliband accused Mr Cameron of “complacency”.
Mr Miliband, said: “The truth is you are cutting too far and too fast and it is British people who are paying the price.”
