Recruitment firm achieves £6m turnover

Having achieved a turnover in excess of £6 million in its first year of trading, one of the region’s recruitments firms has helped more than 280 people find permanent jobs.

Newcastle and Peterlee based GEM Partnership passed its first year milestone in October last year creating the permanent posts, despite a general downward trend in employment.

Formed through a management buy-out of Premium People Recruitment in 2009, the firm has supported over 2,000 candidates through temporary assignments and has found temporary work for over 1,600 new people across a range of sectors.

Managing Director Lee Rankin, said: We’re very proud to have achieved this, but as a management team we are also proud of the team around us and I put it on their shoulders.

“We have a great team, and they make the difference. Encouraging creativity, innovation and initiative from our staff has proved to be the key to developing and delivering valuable solutions for our clients.

A successful first year has enabled GEM to re-brand the business, launch a new website and locate to new premises in the East Durham Corridor.

GEM has achieved this growth by streamlining the business strategy and focusing on key sectors including manufacturing, contact centre, marketing and engineering.

The firms is also looking to expand it’s own team as it endeavors to raise the profile of recruitment.
