A&P Group welcomes new recruit
A ship repair group has appointed Martin Robertson as Sales and Marketing Manager based at the company’s headquarters in Hebburn, South Tyneside.
Robertson, 34, joins the A&P Group and will be responsible for sales and marketing activity focusing on the marine and energy sectors.
He joins the firm as it expands into new sectors, whilst building upon its reputation as one of the UK’s leading ship repair and conversion companies.
Having grown-up in South Shields and graduated from Sunderland University with a BA in Business Administration, Mr Robertson is familiar with the company, whose workforce has tripled in the last few months to over 600.
He said: “It’s an exciting move for me. In addition to our ship repair and conversion business we are moving into large scale fabrication work, the oil, gas and renewables sectors. That’s what I’ve been brought in to do.
“We have had an unbelievable start to the year so I have a lot to live up to.”
A&P Tyne has had a record-breaking start to 2011, with orders for subsea structures for offshore oil fields and several major ship refits in addition to the MoD order for the new Aircraft Carrier sections.
To handle the flow of work, A&P Tyne had created an extra 390 jobs for agency and sub-contracted labour, in addition to its 242 full-time staff.
