Global empire returns home with plans for expansion

THE founder on an international online marketing company has moved the firm’s headquarters back to his native North East as it looks to expand throughout the globe.

Myk Baxter set up Myk Baxter Online Marketing in South East Asia in 2009 and quickly grew a portfolio of clients in the Middle East, Australia and Europe.

He has now moved the firm’s base to his hometown of Newton Aycliffe and will continue to service his global clients as well as helping North East firms boost their online presence.

Mr Baxter, founder of Myk Baxter Online Marketing, has already recruited four new members of staff in the region since his return from the company’s former base in Thailand and is in the process of taking on two Dubai-based web developers who will be charged with servicing the group’s Gulf-based customers.

Over the next five years the company aims to increase its foothold in South East Asia, South Africa and Australia, while in the UK, it is set to launch a series of online marketing training seminars.

Mr Baxter, who worked in Dubai before the recession prior to moving to Thailand, said: “The set up in Thailand was extremely successful and I had better response from businesses in the UK, Australia and Dubai as well as in South East Asia.

“I knew that I could duplicate the model in the UK in my home town and focus on helping new start up North East businesses and companies on a national level through Google optimisation while also being closer to my Mum who has cancer.

“Over the next five years I envisage myself with a team of seasoned online marketing consultants working under my brand on an international level with a presence in Thailand, Dubai, South Africa and Australia.”
