Pet Supermarket continues to grow

A Rapidly evolving online retailer, which boasted a turnover of £6m last year, has delivered a record term in sales over the last twelve months with growth predicted to continue into the next financial year.

The online pet superstore, PET SUPERMARKET.CO.UK, which has been in operation since 2004, broke sales records in nearly every month of 2010, attaining a year on year growth of 44% and a 58% increase in order volumes.

The company underwent a website relaunch in July 2010 and during the year and the number of registered users of the website increased by nearly 68%, with each visitor spending on average £50.

The fourth quarter of 2010 saw the introduction of PET SUPERMARKET.CO.UK’S first own brand of pet food, Milburns.

The food, which offers a high level of nutritional value with an affordable price tag, out sold the UK’s most popular brand of dog food by three to two in its first three months of sales.

Managing director of PET SUPERMARKET.CO.UK, Mark Berriman said: “I am proud that we succeeded in growing our business in what has been a tough year because of a tightening market, but these are an encouraging set of results.

“The opportunities that exist are still numerous, particularly in the small animal, reptile and aquatics sectors and I wish to make PET SUPERMARKET.co.uk the number one choice for any pet owner buying online.”

The retailer achieved turnover of over £6m in its last financial year and is hoping for much of the same again in 2011.
