SMEs could bid for billions

DAVID Cameron recently announced a series of measures to help small and medium-sized firms compete for billions of pounds worth of central government contracts.

He said the aim was to give businesses greater access to the bidding process by eliminating “excessive bureaucracy and petty regulation”.

Firms should no longer have to input their information each time they apply for a new contract, for example.

The CBI, however, said the government could have gone much further. But what did bdaily readers think?

Out of 68 votes in last week’s poll, only 25% agreed new measures are a bold move in the right direction, while a majority 40% believe the government needs to be far more radical for the new push to work.

Meanwhile, 35% of bdaily readers sat on the fence and said they weren’t convinced either way.
