Dunelm Homes sets the pace with green homes

A HOUSEBUILDING firm is well on track to meet the government’s target of building carbon neutral new homes by 2016, it said yesterday.

Dunelm Homes is constructing Climat Hus homes, a Scandinavian design which is environmentally effective and sustainable.

The first homes of this type in the North East are being built at the Grange development in Bowburn.

The move has received much interest as the design, not previously used by a new home builder in the UK.

Colin Willetts, sales director of Dunelm Homes said: “The Climate Hus concept is very new to the region and we are excited about introducing this design and concept to the North East.

“We, as an industry, need to take big and bold steps in the Government’s move towards carbon neutral homes.”
