Businesses know their Durham
Businesses and organisations which have helped in the success of the Know Your Durham Coast tourism initiative were recognised this week at a celebration event at Seaham Hall Hotel and Serenity Spa.
Hosted by BBC Radio presenter Alfie Joey, who comes from the nearby village of Thornley, the awards event was an opportunity to recognise the contribution made by individuals, businesses and organisations to Know Your Durham Coast.
The awards event took place during British Tourism Week, which aims to raise local, regional, national and international awareness of the size, value and importance of Britain’s £115bn visitor economy.
Niall Benson, project manager for Durham Heritage Coast Partnership, said: “It was a great pleasure to have so many like-minded people come together to celebrate what has been achieved through Know Your Durham Coast.
“Tourism is becoming increasingly important to Durham’s economy and this project has delivered practical skills training and created valuable new links between organisations and businesses.”
