SURGO contract wins hit £20m

Newcastle-based SURGO Construction’s latest appointment to a health scheme in Spennymoor brings the total value of its contract wins in recent months to £20m.

One of the region’s longest established building contractors has continued to win new work in what remains a challenging market for companies competing for projects in the construction sector.

This newly announced contract award, worth £1.25m and scheduled to last 29 weeks, sees SURGO rebuilding Adan House, home to the St. Andrew’s Medical Practice, after the original surgery was badly fire damaged last May.

The project adds to SURGO’s growing reputation within the healthcare sector where the team has just recently completed a similar new medical centre in Dipton, Co Durham.

Dr Andrew Sanderson, retired partner and project manager on behalf of St Andrew’s Medical Practice, said: “We interviewed 20 potential contractors, but SURGO really presented their proposal well and we were impressed with their approach, the calibre of their team and the fact that they had recently completed another local primary care facility.

“We are very happy with our choice of contractor and look forward to mid September when we will be fully operational in our new premises.”
