Monday Movers: Southern Cross and Mincoffs remain busy in the job market

The UK’s largest care home operator, Darlington-based Southern Cross, has made several senior appointments as part of its restructuring process.

Tim Bolot has been appointed director of financial restructuring and will be responsible for the work connected with the company’s recently announced restructuring and will report to its chief executive, Jamie Buchan.

Mr Bolot, who is a barrister and a chartered accountant, has extensive experience of restructuring within the healthcare industry, most recently in the NHS, and brings additional skills and expertise to the Board.

Frank McCormack has been appointed as general counsel and company secretary, replacing William McLeish, who is stepping down after five years with the group.

Meanwhile, Amy Kroviak joins the company as director of communications. Ms Kroviak has over 15 years experience in corporate communications and was previously a director at Luther Pendragon.

Finally Andrew Sellers has joined the Company as group financial controller. Mr Sellers qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young in London before relocating to the North East of England where he has worked at Board level in a number of organisations.

Chairman Ray Miles said “The Board is committed to ensure that it has available to it, all the skills required to successfully tackle the restructuring process which is now underway and to attract new investment into the business. The appointment of Tim Bolot is key to this.”

Newcastle-based law firm Mincoffs Solicitors LLP has also expanded its team and appointed two new specialist solicitors and promoted two trainee solicitors.

Solicitor Louise Miller (nee Wrynne), 30, specialises in wills, estate administration and lifetime tax planning.

She is responsible for running and expanding Mincoffs wills and probate department and is advising clients seeking information on a range of subjects from powers of attorney to inheritance planning.

Gillian Barlow, 29, has been appointed as a solicitor in the employment department, where she will be available to advise clients on a variety of employment law issues, including, unfair and constructive dismissal, discrimination issues, capability and redundancy procedures and the application of the Transfer of Undertakings regulations.

Hayley Anderson, 26, from Gosforth, has been promoted to assistant solicitor within the commercial litigation department. She will be available to advise on contractual disputes, insolvency related matters, debt recovery, defamation, and shareholder and director disputes.

Gwen Jones, 28, has been promoted to assistant solicitor within the commercial property and corporate finance department, where she will be responsible for assisting with transactions including landlord and tenant work for high street retailers, property acquisitions and sales from both the corporate and property sides of the transaction.
