100 jobs set to be created at £3.5m hotel revamp
A Newcastle hotel that was badly damaged by fire has entered the final stages of a £3.5m redevelopment project which will create around 100 new jobs.
The former Imperial Hotel in Jesmond has now become The Holiday Inn and is coming to the end of a two year refurbishment. The 116 bedroom site, now includes a bar and Fratello’s, an Italian restaurant.
Work is set to be completed in the next two weeks and the new-look hotel will boast an improved range of conference and event facilities as part of its refurbishment and once they finishing touches are added.
Head of sales and marketing Paul Weild, said: “The hotel is already becoming very popular with visitors and business people because it is so accessible to the city centre,”
Before the refurbishment the hotel was operating a fairly modest level with only a handful of staff but now around 100 jobs have been created across every area of the operation.
Mr Weild added: “It is a landmark hotel Newcastle and we’re sure that now under the Holiday Inn banner and with the range of facilities we can now offer it will become hugely popular not only with visitors but also with people from across Tyneside who will want to use the restaurant and our Terrace Bar.”
