Carbon reducing technology business wins free office space
A carbon reducing technology business has been crowned the winner of a ‘Strictly Small Business’ event in Teesside.
CAT-UK (Carbon Abatement Technology) was the overall winner triumphing which offers different types of transport a unique fuel and emission reduction technology.
The winning business showed entrepreneurial acumen by supplying the technology to heavy goods transport companies.
Owner of the firm Derek Foxcroft told judges how tests had revealed this can achieve 28% better fuel consumption and over 40% less emissions.
The company won a business package worth around £10,000 which included a year’s free office space in addition to a years free office insurance.
Derek Foxcroft, owner of CAT-UK said; “I’m so excited about winning this, because I know we have just stepped over a threshold, and that threshold could mean a lot more orders and a lot more credibility, especially in theTees Valley.
“All of our clients so far are in the North East. We always promised to keep the business in the North East, including the supply chain, which I have managed to do, so to have our headquarters here inMiddlesbrough would be fantastic.”
The event aims to reward the entrepreneurial spirit of Teesside and encourages anyone thinking about starting or relocating and expanding their own business to take the plunge.
Three contestants made their pitches before a panel of Teesside business leaders from Python Properties, Henderson Insurance Brokers and Waltons Clark Whitehill.
Martin Johnson, partner at Python Properties said; “I think what made Derek’s business stand out to me were the possibilities that he brought to the table. It’s new technology, and he’s obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about it.
“If it did come off in the way he thinks it will, the possibilities are very good for this area and the wider region.”
