Is Twitter co-founder back for good?
The news that Jack Dorsey is returning to Twitter to lead product development, has raised a few eyebrows in the business world.
Both Dorsey and current Chief Executive Dick Costolo have both ‘tweeted’ highly of the reunion.
Dorsey said in his tweet,
“I’m thrilled to be back at work at Twitter leading product as Executive Chairman. And yes; leading Square forevermore as CEO 200%.”
Square being his start-up e-commerce company which allows payment through mobile devices, which he founded upon leaving the company in 2008.
Another fellow co-founder Evan Williams will take a step back in the wake of Dorsey’s return, taking a more relaxed role rather than being involved in the day-to-day running.
As you may know Dorsey was forced out of the company when he was the Chief Executive.
What it is essential to understand about his return, is that the landscape of Twitter has been completely transformed in his absence. It is now one of, if not the essential social networking site to use worldwide in business and leisure with over 200 million users.
The move comes at a pivotal time for the information and communications platform, with it now aiming to prove itself as a profitable business.
One of the areas that Twitter are actively looking to improve, is a method of integrating advertising into the site without taking away from the user’s experience.
