New product development to create jobs at North shields manufacturer.
A North Tyneside manufacturer is looking to create new jobs after developing a new high-security building panel.
North Shields based Isoclad manufacturers is aiming to break into new markets after developing a new high-spec panel.
The firm believe it will fill a gap in the market for building infrastructures that need a higher degree of in-built security.
Based on the West Chirton North Industrial Estate in North Shields, Isoclad currently employs 26 people, but managing director Mike McColl believes this number will rise as the new Securiclad product is adopted across different sectors.
He said: “We’ve already taken on a couple of new staff this year, and our expectations for this new product, added to an existing product portfolio that is performing well, should mean we’ll need to take some more people on as the year progresses.”
The firm is also currently completing further development work, including ballistic and bomb-blast evaluations, in order to be able to compete for national infrastructure contracts covering buildings such as waterworks, power stations and telecoms facilities.
He added: “The need for higher security ratings on building infrastructure products has grown significantly over the last few years for a number of different reasons, and we’ve been able to develop products in response to this which are already at the head of the UK market.”
