Canadian bar begins recruitment drive
A new bar and grill, set to open in Newcastle this August, is kicking off a recruitment campaign in the hope of tapping into some of the region’s best talent.
Shark Club Sports Bar and Grill, a chain based in Western Canada, is venturing across the pond to open its first European venue in Newcastle.
In the coming months, the club is looking to fill over 200 full and part-time vacancies with roles including supervisors, servers, bartenders, bar support and culinary team members.
It will be located on the ground floor of the new four-star Sandman Signature Hotel, which is being built opposite St James’ Park on the iconic Scottish and Newcastle brewery site.
Set to become the city’s leading sports bar and grill, the Shark Club’s menu will feature a delicious selection of steaks, seafood and international specialities as well as Canadian classics, burgers and wings.
Newly appointed staff will undertake an intensive training programme to ensure they showcase the very best in Canadian hospitality and deliver an exceptional service to drinkers and diners alike.
Mark Davies, general manager of the Shark Club Bar and Grill, says: “We’re hoping to find fun-loving, energetic people who are passionate about hospitality both front and back of house. We’ll start our search at a number of college and university campuses before moving onto 5 recruitment days at St James’ Park to find the best the city can offer.
“We’re hiring for full and part-time positions and are urging people from all walks of life who think they’ve got what it takes to offer unrivalled service and who want to work for an international brand that’s been voted Canada’s best sports bar, to attend one of our recruitment days.”
