IT firm snaps up acquisition
A software provider has acquired a web solutions company in a move that is set to create further jobs in this sector.
Newcastle-based Orchard Information Systems acquisition of Applaud Web Solutions will allow the company, who provides software for the social housing sector and local authorities, to strengthen their position in the software industry.
The union of the two companies will allow Orchard to benefit from Applaud’s expertise, experience and resources.
Nick Lambert, the finance director at Orchard said: “We felt that Applaud had a worthwhile offering and a whole host of innovative ideas with we could sell to our customer base.”
“Applaud becoming part of the Orchard organisation means it can benefit from our administration, financial management and sales and marketing resources.”
While Orchard to retain the employees of Applaud, they will now look to expand the business further and intend to create 12 new jobs over the next year.
