China and UK set to form trade agreement.
The BBC has reported that China and the UK are due to sign a trade deal worth £1 billion, in an attempt to provide more investment opportunities for British businesses.
This agreement will help UK companies work with China in several key areas including architecture, civil engineering and research and development. Farming is also set to benefit, with deals including the export of chicken and pigs expected to be part of the deal.
It is hoped that these plans will create more jobs and opportunities for British business, and it is believed that the government are aiming for £100bn of bilateral trade by 2015.
Today David Cameron, along with senior cabinet ministers will meet with representatives from the Chinese government to discuss the ways that cultural and educational relations between the country can be improved, as well as global issues affecting both countries such as international security and climate change.
While reports show that British exports have already increased by 20% since Mr Cameron visited Beijing last November, it is hoped that this new agreement will help British businesses to tap into the markets in the emerging regional cities.
However, Chinas human rights record is an inevitable point of contention between the two countries, and the BBC believes that Britain will stress the need to respect individual’s rights under the rule of law.
