Hadrian AD2022 scheme to help SMEs
Hadrian’s Wall Heritage hopes to preserve the regions’ heritage by offering local SMEs new marketing and business opportunities.
It is hoped that the drop-in events for businesses set to take place next week as part of the Hadrian AD2022 programme will allow them to share and benefit from the World Heritage Site brand.
The sessions will inform businesses about how they can take advantage of the already heightened interest in the area. Last year 3.5 million visitors came to Hadrian’s Wall Country, generating £880 million for the local economy.
The Hadrian AD2022 scheme has been launched as the Wall approaches its 1900thanniversary in 2022, and it is hoped that it will encourage local communities to continue to preserve the values of the heritage site.
However, the initial stages of the programme are primarily aimed at promoting local business.
Linda Tuttiett, chef executive of Hadrian’s Wall Heritage said: “Everyone is facing challenging times, but together we can harness resources and make the greatest possible impact for the north of England.
“Collectively we can take full advantage of the opportunity presented by the heightened awareness and interest generated so far.”
