Extension to Innovation Centre open for business
The keys have finally been handed over to the new tenants of Hub Two, the extension at UK Steel Enterprise’s Innovation Centre in Hartlepool.
The original Innovation Centres in Tees Valley proved so popular that an extension was build to meet demands. A third of the 46 new offices had already been reserved in advance of the buildings’ opening.
Hub Two now doubles the size of the original Innovation Centre on Queens Meadow Business Park, which opened in 2005.
Stuart Green, UK Steel Enterprise’s managing director said: “Investing at this time really demonstrates the continued commitment of our parent company Tata Steel Europe to Tees Valley and to providing new and expanding businesses with top quality premises and support.”
UK Steel Enterprise has already demonstrated its commitment to supporting SMEs by investing around £30 million in workspace as well as providing £77 million of true risk capital.
By providing support to more than 4,750 companies 70,000 jobs have been created in steel producing areas.
When Mr Green was given the keys form site manager for Mansell Construction Andrew Henderson, he added: “I have watched Hub Two take shape on my regular visits to the Tees Valley and I am delighted to her here for the key handover and to see the doors open for business.”
The first tenants in the new building include a wide range of companies, including design specialists, a door company and a recruitment agency.
