Cut red tape, says EEF
EEF is encouraging businesses to get involved in the, ‘Red Tape Challenge’, which aims to dismantle the barriers holding manufacturers back from growing their business.
The campaign, which is set tp run over the next fortnight, will give companies an opportunity to tell the government how regulations are affecting them, where they can be improved and where they can be scrapped. It is hoped that this review will help businesses to expand.
Chief executive of EEF Terry Scuoler will act as sector champion in the campaign. He commented: “The RTC is a government initiative designed to help deliver on its commitment to cut the burden of regulation weighing down on the economy.
“Once businesses have made their contribution, the Government has committed to working out within three months which regulation will be kept and why. If regulations cannot be justified, they will go and if Ministers want to keep them, they will need to make the case for them to stay.”
The EEF is also lobbying to simplify regulation in a number of areas including Environmental policy and the consolidation of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive.
All manufacturers who are feeling the burden of regulation are encouraged to participate in the event.
