Care home group goes into administration

Choices Care Home Group, which runs care homes throughout the North East and Scotland, has gone into administration.

The Group operates a rage of services including supported living, domiciliary care and residential services to around 800 individuals with learning disabilities. It also employs around 1,400 staff.

Administrators from Zolfo Cooper were appointed due to ongoing cash problems at the Group, and immediately affected the same of the supported living business to Mears care Scotland Limited. This move will protect 500 jobs, which will transfer over to their new employer with immediate effect.

Peter Holder, Partner at Zolfo Cooper said: “The key aspect all along in this process has been to ensure that services continue to be provided to all users without interruption.

“We are extremely pleased therefore to have agreed a swift sale of the supported living business and wish all parties concerned well in their respective futures as they continue to provide services to users.”

Going forward, the Administrators intend to continue trading the registered service business and domiciliary care business as normal, with a view to selling them.

Peter added: “Our focus is very much on securing a suitable buyer for the remaining businesses. We have already received a number of enquiries from interested parties and would welcome further expressions of interest.

“In the meantime, we will continue to ensure that service users experience no disruption to the quality care they are accustomed to.”
