Northstar Ventures has invested a further £72,000 (?82,600) in Sunderland start-up Webpromoter360

Northstar Ventures has invested a further £72,000 (€82,600) in Sunderland start-up Webpromoter360. The company received £100,000 of funding from Northstar in 2010.

The deal marks a significant investment from the Finance for Business North East Proof of Concept Fund, managed by Northstar and backed by the European Regional Development Fund, European Investment Bank and One North East.

Based at the Evolve Centre in Houghton-le-Spring, Webpromoter360 has developed 4thAspect.com, a program aimed at web marketing campaigns. The software streamlines the search engine optimisation (SEO) website promotion and reporting processes carried out by marketing services agencies.

“Search is a hot topic and an area in which we made three investments last year. SEO is a large part of search and that’s what this is about – intelligent search if you like,” said Richard Exley, head of the Proof of Concept Fund.

The fresh capital will be used to expand the sales, account management and software engineering teams. Webpromoter360 has also brought in a new non-executive director, Tom Maxfield, best known as former director of accounting software giant Sage.

“What 4thAspect.com offers is a novel way for agencies to semi-automate the process while staying close to clients in the competitive world of digital marketing,” said Maxfield. “It’s a unique product, and allows clients to improve their service to customers by streamlining their work and taking the drudgery out of creating links to their websites and reporting to their clients. Interest is most likely to come from web-marketers and SEO agencies.”
