Millennium Bridge Designer reveals all
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Millennium Bridge, its designer is coming to Gateshead to deliver a lecture on the construction of the landmark.
Jim Eyre Of London based Wilkinson Eyre architects was chosen to give the first in a series of annual Joseph Swan Lectures, and will focus on the impact the bridge has had on the landscape of Gateshead.
The hour long lecture, which takes place on the 5thSeptember, will explain how he decided upon the design, as well as the challenges involved in realising the unique concept for a tilting bridge.
Other lectures in the series will focus on innovation and engineering in Gateshead, and will be held at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. The lecture will be followed by a full bridge tilt at 7pm.
