Art Fair brings the light of the Middle East
The NewcastleGateshead Art Fair will this autumn provide a showcase for a diverse selection of work by artistic organisations from home and abroad.
Now in its fifth year, the NewcastleGateshead Art Fair has forged a reputation as the largest event of its kind in the North East and this year it will attract the work of hundreds of artists from around 50 galleries to the The Sage Gateshead.
A number of galleries will be showing work at the Art Fair for the first time including the London-based Arts Canteen - which will present an exhibition of work by an emerging group of Palestinian artists.
Aser El Saqqa, the founder and director of Arts Canteen, said: “We are excited to be bringing this selection of work to the North-East for the first time and that the work of contemporary Arab artists is finally being recognised and celebrated in the UK.”
The Colomb Art Gallery, London, and York Fine Arts will also be making their debuts at the Art Fair.
Philip Short, Managing Director of The Colomb Art Gallery, London, added: “We have watched the NewcastleGateshead Art Fair grow in reputation over the years and this year we are extremely happy to be part of it.
“Combining the artworks available at both our London and York galleries we are looking forward to bringing together the best of our contemporary and traditional art under one roof.”
The NewcastleGateshead Art Fair runs from 30 September to 2 October.
