Indian delegation visit NEPIC

Delegates from the Indian Chemical Council have visited the region to learn more about the industrial capabilities the North East has to offer.

Ten member companies attended the event hosted by NEPIC, and were given the opportunity to visit manufacturing facilities on Teesside and learnt about research and development opportunities at CPI and the Wilton Centre.

It is hoped that the visit will strengthen links between NEPIC and the Indian Chemical Council, as well as improving the technological capabilities of both to deliver a lower carbon future.

The Director General of ICC Mr Karangle said “We are delighted to be visiting this vibrant and important UK region for the Chemical Industry.

“We hope that this Mission and those in future from the UK to India, will not only build on the NEPIC / ICC relationship but bring future trade and investment opportunities to both countries.”

The delegation also visited local universities to witness the academic and industrial research capabilities within the region, as well as attending a meet the buyer event with 35 other process industry companies.

Stan Higgins, CEO of NEPIC was please by the outcome of the visit, and is now calling for further reinvestment and trading to sustain the local economy.

He added: “The process sector is so important to the whole economy of the North East of England and it is essential that industrialists work together to ensure the sector remains vibrant.

“International promotion of our region’s process sector capability and the business of individual company members is the most important part of NEPICs work. We do this very effectively in other countries through partners who have the local knowledge and influence that can be so valuable in facilitating top level contacts for those of our members wishing to build their business and exports.”
