Northumbria University establishes links with Singapore

Singapore based students will now be able to study for a Northumbria University degree without leaving the country, thanks to a new education partnership.

Kaplan Higher Education and Northumbria will now work together will see 40 courses from the university being introduced in Singapore over the next 12 months.

It follows in Northumbria’s strong tradition of international education provision, complimenting ties in North America, the Caribbean and the rest of Asia.

Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Northumbria, Professor Andrew Wathey, noted that the university shared a similar mission to Kaplan in providing high-quality education internationally.

He said: “Northumbria University is committed to growing its international presence and forming first-class knowledge based partnerships which create opportunities for students and ensure that they have the skills and qualifications needed to succeed in a global economy.

“I am confident that this new partnership will bring new opportunities to both organisations and benefits to many students who will now be able to study Northumbria’s programmes in their home country.”

Mark Coggins, APAC CEO at Kaplan, stated that the programmes to be offered are “highly attuned to market needs.”

He said: “Students will benefit from high quality education options that will give them a strong edge in the workplace, and the best of what Northumbria and Kaplan Singapore have to offer.

Some of the courses to be offered include Business Management BA (Hons), Estate Management BSc (Hons) and Graphic Design BA (Hons).

Kaplan Inc is one of the world’s largest private education companies, providing educational and career services to over one million students across 500 locations.

Roughly 18,000 students are enrolled at its South East Asia base.
