New hotel creates 200 jobs for Newcastle
200 jobs have been created as a leading Canadian hotel chain has opened its first UK site in Newcastle this week.
The Sandman Signature Hotel is located in the former headquarters of the Scottish and Newcastle Brewery at Gallowgate.
Sandman Hotel Group are Canada’s fastest-growing, privately-owned hospitality group, and have opened the 175 bedroom hotel following a multi-million pound investment project.
Director of Sandman Hotel Group UK, Mitchell Gaglardi, stated that Newcastle was chosen for a number of reasons.
He said: “Not only is Newcastle’s hospitality to visitor legendary the world over, but it also benefits from superb transport links and, being the foremost city in the North of England, it is inevitably a big draw for businesses and tourists alike.
“We are confident that the Sandman Signature Hotel Newcastle will prove an ideal destination for both visitors and Newcastle residents who will now be able to see at first hand the high standard of care that has gone into creating this unique hotel.”
The plush four-star hotel boasts two conference rooms, free high-speed internet access to appeal to business travellers, self-catering suites and 24 hour room service.
The group have also opened a gastro bar called the Shark Club on the same site.
