This weeks new appointments

The Port of Tyne have appointed Maxine Pott to the board as a non-executive director.

With over 20 years of experience in accountancy and business management, Ms Potts said she was looking forward to the challenges ahead.

Chair of the Port of Tyne, Sir Ian Wrigglesworth, said: “I am delighted to welcome Maxine to the Board.

Rider Hunt, the national based construction consultants and chartered quantity surveyors, have announced that Newcastle partner, Andrew Dawson is to become chair of the board of directors.

Andrew, who has been with the company since 1989, said: “I am thrilled with the position and the confidence my fellow directors in the group have shown in me.

“I really look forward to adding my own stamp on the direction of the group over the next few years.”

Northumbrian Water have made two top level appointments at their Durham head office.

Sarah Salter is to become the new Group Human Rescources Director, and Dr Maxine Mayhew is Group Commercial Director.

The new directors will have group wide responsibilities across the North East, Essex, Suffolk, Scotland, Ireland and Gibraltar.

Chief Executive Officer Heidi Mottram said: “I am delighted to have such talented and experienced professionals join our management team.”

The York based accountants and business advisors, Clive Owen & Co LLP have recruited Simon Young to join them as a partner, with over 20 years experience.

Terry Doyle, partner at the York office, said: “We are delighted to welcome Simon to the firm.

A new head chef will head up the kitchen at the Black Horse gastro pub in Beamish.

Sean McCabe brings his experience, including the 2007 Evening Chronicle’s ‘Chef of the Year’ award, to the restored 18th century pub.

Speaking on his appointment Sean said“ I jumped at the chance to take this position at the black horse, because of it’s impressive reputation and stunning location.

Market Research Company, SMS, Survey and Marketing services have formed a new management team, as part of ambitious growth plans.

Lesley Wright, Director of SMS’s Quantitative Division and Strategic Director Nick Maxwell, join Rita Brophy, Director of SMS’s Qualitative Research Division.

The three will oversee a staff of 35 between offices in Newcastle and Reading.

Nick Maxwell said: “The company has always been a big part of our lives so to be in a position now to build and grow the business further is a huge opportunity and privilege.”
