Spectacular light show celebrates 10 years of the Millennium Bridge
The sky over the River Tyne will be lit up tonight to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
The lightshow, commissioned by Gateshead Council, will feature colours, rainbows, stripes and swirls using the bridges own lighting system to create a streak of changing colours.
The lights on the bridge are controlled by a computerised system and operate via eight high powered light cannons either side of the river.
The light show will begin tonight at around 8pm, and is due to run until around 12.30am. If you miss it tonight, the show will also be repeated tomorrow and over the weekend, and can be seen from the Quayside and Gateshead Quays.
