Brewin Dolphin have announced the recruitment of Luke Pierce to its Newcastle office.

Luke will take up the position of assistant director, and brings with him nearly ten years of managing clients investments.

He commented: “I am very fortunate to be joining the Brewin Dolphin team in Newcastle at an important time for the business.The company strategy of integrating financial planning with investment management is really taking off, and I want to be part of it.”

The former editorial director of Trinity Mirror North-East, has taken up the position of director at MDA communications.

Paul Robertson stepped down from the position of editor at the Evening Chronicle last month and will join MDA, who’s clients include Procter & Gamble, Tesco and BAE Systems.

Mary Dryden, managing director of MDA commented: “We are proud that Paul has joined us.He is one of the most respected media professionals in the North East and will be part of a great team that also includes directors Andrew Lambert, former editor of BBC Look North, and Alex Latimer, who joined us from international advertising agency WPP.”

Sofa retailer ScS has appointed the former managing director of Storey Carpets to launch its carpet departments across its North East stores.

Charles Coombs brings over 30 years of experience to the role, and will now be in charge of training over 100 employees in the North East.

David Knight, chief executive of ScS said: “The UK carpet industry is worth an estimated £1 billion and with our nationwide chain of stores we have created some exciting potential, which we intend to maximise with the specialist help of Charles. We’re incredibly excited to have Charles on board, and his wealth of specialist knowledge and experience in carpet retail is invaluable to us in developing the carpet offering.”

Latimer Hinks Solicitors are celebrating the qualification of its newest solicitor.

Daniel Williams has now completed his two-year training contract, and will now begin work in the private client department. He will join the firms growing pool of new layers, including Victoria Moremon and Kelly McLoughlin, who both qualified last summer.

Teesside based Nicholson’s Transport have appointed Jim Sobotowski as its company accountant to operate all across the Nicholson Group.

It has been a challenging time for the firm, but the haulier is now back on track to meet its target for the year.

Chairman David Nicholson commented: “Jim has been brought in to restructure the financial side of the business and the fact our turnover is increasing proves it has been the right decision. He has extensive experience working within the transport and logistics sector and shares the Group’s culture of providing excellent customer service and continuous improvement.”
