North East business rescue and recovery specialist Begbies Traynor has taken on three new recruits.
Gillian Sayburn and Tonya Allison were both already at the firm, and will now go on to become insolvency practitioners, while Amy Down, an administrator at the Teesside office, has passed level 2 of the Association of Accounting Technicians exams.
North East partner, Andrew Haslam, said: “Over the last three years, we have established a strong presence in the North East from our offices in Newcastle and Teesside.
“It is important that we continue to invest in developing our 12-strong team to enable us to carry on providing expert advice to support businesses in the region as they continue to face challenging trading conditions.”
Commercial law firm Muckle LLP has appointed three trainee solicitors to its Newcastle practice.
Mark Reeves, Zoe Ditch and Daniel Graham have all studied law, and had previously completed Muckle’s vacation scheme and will now go on to spend six months across four different practices including corporate finance, commercial, property, employment, dispute resolution, banking and construction.

Deloitte have appointed four new directors to grow services across the North East region.
James Clark, Garry Clarke, Clare Boardman and Kris Shuttleworth will help to further develop Deloitte’s restructuring services.
Dan Butters, corporate finance partner at Deloitte, said: “These appointments demonstrate our continued commitment to invest in talent of the highest calibre to provide exceptional client service and specialist knowledge within the North East region.”
Darlington based engineering company, Henry Williams Ltd, has recruited an experienced sales engineer to lead expansion of its highways portfolio.
Joel Chase joins the company as part of a three-year, £3m programme of investment in forging and fabrication equipment at its Dosworth Street facility.
He said: “Henry WIlliams is a business with a long tradition and more importantly, a good name in a number of important sectors, not least highways, which is my chosen field.
“It is an exciting time for the company, with new products such as ZipPole passively safe street lighting columns to complement its range of high integrity roadside cabinets and post assemblies.”
Four graduates from Northumbria University have been the first to benefit from time spent at the Building Information Modeling Academy.
Rick Marsden, Marc Warren, Bryan Cowey and Jason Braithwaite are the first graduates from the BIM Academy, and three have gone on to jobs and a fourth is continuing education.
Commenting on their success, BIM Academy operations director, Peter Barker, said: “As the built environment enters a new era, BIM will transform the way buildings in all sectors are designed, constructed and operated.
“BIM Academy is making a significant contribution to educating the designers and other professionals of the future and we are delighted that our first wave of graduates have been so successful in furthering their careers during what continues to be a very challenging time for everyone in the industry.”
IT consultancy Aegis has expanded its team with the addition of two new recruits at its Newcastle Quayside headquarters.
Graham Todd joins as a technical consultant with over 10 years experience and 17-year-old student Daniel Sweeney will join as part of the company’s new apprenticeship scheme.
Managing and technical director of Aegis, David McPherson, said: “Both Graham and Dan have very quickly become integral members of the company.
“Dan’s willingness to learn and his enthusiasm have seen him become a key player within the team, whilst Graham’s wealth of IT experience is providing invaluable support-wise, and is already reaping great results for both clients and Aegis IT alike.”
Durham based Cestria Community Housing has announced it will take on a new member of staff to its management team.
Rosie Banks, who has just completed an MSc in Management, will take the role of Business Improvement Manager to oversee business processes and performance.
She said: “I am really excited at my appointment and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead.
“I hope to be able to utilise my skills and experience in this role and support the growing strength of the organisation to ensure that continuous improvement is embedded across the organisation.”
Teeside engineering consultancy, TAS, has expanded it’s portfolio of services with a team of experience specialists to support the emerging sector’s requirements.
Head of Electrical Engineering at TAS, Tim Elwell, said: “We have built an excellent reputation within sectors such as oil and gas and this gives the capability to transfer specific knowledge has enabled us to diversify our offering to other sectors.
“The team of specialists we have established are highly experienced in the offshore and wider renewables sector and have in-depth knowledge in world-renowned practices of electrical safety.”
