North East Pertemps staff raise money for charity
Staff at Pertemps People Development Group in Redcar have raised more than £300 for Macmillan Cancer Support, through activities that contributed towards a national coffee morning.
More than 40,000 people across the UK carried out their own individual coffee mornings to raise funds to help people affected by cancer.
The team carried out a sponsored cycle ride on an exercise bike, collectively completing 170 miles across five working days - the length of the journey from the company’s Sunderland centre to head
office in Birmingham.
Employment coach, Jemma Fulton, successfully stayed silent for six hours during the day, while her colleague, Lynsey Hook, also an employment coach, made Thai Green chicken curry, which sold for £1.50
a bowl.
Daphne Cotton made butterfly cakes for customers and clients to buy, while others took part in a MacMillan quiz that offered the prize of a fruit hamper and wine.
Local beauticians also carried out a sponsored waxing with two volunteers; trainer, Daniel Cochrane and head of procurement, Adrian Curtis.
Manager Honi Lees, said: “It was a great fundraising effort for a great cause.
“Last year Macmillan coffee morning raised more than £8m, so let’s hope we’ve helped raised more than that this year.
