New jobs for Durham automotive firm

Manufacturing company Tallent Automotive Ltd is joining up with North East recruitment firm, Temp-Team to provide 100 jobs at its County Durham plant.

Spanish-owned multinational Tallent is looking to recruit machine operators, forklift truck divers, trainee press setter operators and welders for work in its Newton Aycliffe factory, which produces chassis products for the automotive industry.

Their customers are among some of the world’s biggest motoring brands including Ford, Volvo, Honda, Nissan, Land Rover, VW and Jaguar.

141 workers have already been added to the company’s permanent team through Temp-Team, and now a another phase of full time workers will be introduced across a three shift pattern, comprising 7am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm and 11pm to 7am.

David Land, engineering and operations director at Tallent Automotive said: “It’s important that we attract good people into our organisation. Temp-Team has provided great support and helped us develop our temporary employees.

“Transferring 141 people onto our books has been very rewarding: we now need to add further agency workers to help meet the current demand: it’s not only good for the region but an excellent opportunity for those in and around the Aycliffe area to become involved in manufacturing.”

Scott Barnes, business development manager at Temp-Team, said: “It’s great news that Tallent has offered permanent contracts to 141 staff, and also that numbers continue to steadily increase with a further requirement of 100 operators.
