Businesses join forces to support community organization
Two of the region’s major businesses have lent their support to a project offering support to the voluntary and community sector in the North East.
SkillsBridge, have enlisted senior executives at Home Group along with property adviser GVA, to offer property asset management advice to VCS organisations in the area.
Andrew White, SkillsBridge chief executive, said: “It really is fantastic news that Home Group and GVA have come forward to back SkillsBridge.
“Both companies bring deep expertise from their sectors, that VCS organisations would normally find it very difficult to access.
“At a time when the traditional sources of support for the voluntary and community sector are under increasing pressure, this kind of help can be invaluable.”
He went on to say that SkillsBridge would continue to build a support network which currently includes major companies such a Greggs, Eversheds, Benfield Motors and the Sage Group.
Home Group chief executive, Mark Henderson, added: “As a UK wide social enterprise with its headquarters in the North East, Home Group understands first hand the great work that many voluntary organisations in the region undertake.
“We also understand some of the challenges, and opportunities, that they are facing at the moment, so when we were approached by SkillsBridge, the chance to get involved and offer practical support was hugely appealing.”
Mike Cuthbertson, regional senior director at GVA also said that he was looking forward to getting involved.
