Malcolm Wright of Spectrum Consulting on the North East’s work ethic and helping them get into new markets
Spectrum Consulting is in its third year of business, and during that time the businesses has developed itself as the go to firm for pro-active professional management and business support consultancy.
“We’re not a business who just explains the problems involved in running a company – we try to take ownership of what’s required, “ explains Malcolm Wright, one of the company’s directors
There are three strands to Spectrum – recruitment and HR issues, training needs and consultancy, which all contribute to helping businesses in the region develop and expand. While the company is still only small, Malcolm believes provides a personal touch to Spectrum’s work.
“We like to be seen as a ‘can do’ business who address the opportunities and issues businesses face,” he continues
“While we may not have all the answers, we do know the right questions to ask to get to the real issues.”
Malcolm was also involved in establishing the international arm of a business in Abu Dhabi, and has developed a good understanding of how business works in the Middle East. He is now helping other businesses develop overseas.
“The UK economy is struggling, and businesses in this country now need to look outward to trade globally.
“Equally those businesses who are already trading abroad must not be complacent in traditional regions – they should look beyond to where their product can reach a niche market.”
However, Malcolm has a strong belief in businesspeople of the North East, who he believes have a particularly strong desire to succeed.
The North East is a place I hold close to my heart, and if it means we need to export, I can only see it as a good thing.
“The region has a great work ethic, which is of great to value to the world – you seem to see it wherever you go, there’s always a hard working Geordie somewhere!
“This is undoubtedly one of the things which help us to sell ourselves in the UK and on the broader market – our absolute determination to succeed.”
