Local film production gets go ahead thanks to £138,000 funding boost
Corona Pictures are due to start production on their latest thriller, after receiving a £138,000 grant from Northern Film & Media’s Finance for Business.
The film, entitled ‘The Liability’, is a dark comedy about a hitman, a wannabe hitman and a beautiful female vigilante whose paths cross with complicated consequences.
Starring Tim Roth and Talulah Riley, the film will begin shooting in Northumberland on 21 November. Director Craig Viveieros debut feature drama was premiered at the 2011 , and will be produced by Richard Johns and Rupert Jermyn of Corona Pictures.
Richard Johns commented: “We’re thrilled to be making The Liability in the North East.
“Having cut my teeth in the region some years ago as a young producer I know the highly cinematic qualities of the landscapes, both natural and man-made, as well as the skills and energy of North East crew.
“We’re looking forward to making a movie in the region that will travel the world.”
The Liability is the latest project to benefit from the VC Finance for Business North East Creative Content Fund, which is set to invest £2.4million into the North East’s creative industries by the end of 2011.
The Fund has already surpassed its target of bringing in £2.4 million of private sector investment into the region.
