WIN Award winners announced

On Friday evening the names of the region’s most entrepreneurial women were finally announced at a glittering ceremony in Gateshead.

The 12th annual North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards celebrated the women whose innovative ideas and business acumen have boosted the North East’s economy over the past year.

The award of the night, the Susan Dobson Award for Entrepreneurship went to Julie Drummond, founder of North East marketing, creative and digital agency Drummond Central. Julie also had double the reason to celebrate, after she was also awarded the prize for Best Creative Business.

Other winners on the night included Barbra Croce owner of Coffee Latino, Storm Tea and On Your Trike, sisters Jessica and Emily Jane Lathan for their jewellery brand Rock n Rose and Michelle Taylor, founder of Tallulah Love, a luxury lingerie brand.

WIN chair and founder of events management company She’s Gott It! Nickie Gott said: “The standard of entry this year was higher than it’s ever been, and there were many difficult decisions to make in selecting the winners.

“I would like to congratulate all of the shortlisted companies for showing incredible determination, leadership ability and entrepreneurship in these difficult economic times.”

The Awards were sponsored by The Susan Dobson Memorial Fund, SpaceCraft, Durham County Council, Jaguar, Hazel Armstrong Ltd, Women into the Network, UK Trade & Investment, the Federation of Small Businesses, Barbour and Gateshead Council.
