Behind the business with Virtuoso Digital Marketing

Gary Storey, managing director of Virtuoso Digital Marketing takes Bdaily behind the business.

What key challenges has your company recently faced?

Growing the business and finding the right staff that fit in with your own company ethos is an on-going challenge. As any employer will tell you, the cornerstone to having a successful business is having a good team around you and we are making excellent progress towards that. Obviously the economic climate is a factor which we all have to manage at the present time. Quite rightly, clients want top value for their expenditure and our role is to provide that, but without losing any of the values that have seen us through the last decade.

What is your biggest achievement over the past 12 months?

Without doubt it is expanding the team and broadening our customer base. We are now working with some major North East companies, such as Zytronic, that see the benefit of working with us and the experience and expertise which we can bring to the business. Added to this is our accomplishment in winning a recent tender to build an e-commerce website for part of the NHS trust, the North East Ambulance Service.

What is your biggest focus for the coming year?

The growth sector for our business has been clients outsourcing their digital marketing to Virtuoso; this is where we will concentrate our efforts in going forward. The growth in social media has made many companies aware of the need to engage but not sure of how to progress. At Virtuoso we can build individual strategies for clients, engaging with their customers online and raising their brand awareness.

If you had to choose one top piece of advice for someone just starting out in business, or is currently operating within your industry sector, what would it be?

If you are just starting out in business my advice would be to work on your processes and build a solid foundation on which you can grow. Whether you are a large organisation or a one-man band, the challenges are similar and if your processes are in place, life can be a lot easier.

Can you share with us your view of the current landscape of business, in this region or generally, and where your organisation sits within it?

This is a turbulent time to be running your own company and we are in a very competitive arena. However, we are working with clients who place great value on their online marketing strategy and this is encouraging as we continue to work on new and exciting projects. Providing great value and excellent return on investment is paramount, and if we can keep delivering this we will continue to grow and create partnerships with our clients.
