Do what the majority will do?

What opportunity will you miss this month by doing what the majority chooses to do?

We have now entered the month of December; a month that could be life defining for your business and for the lives of your family. There is so much doom and gloom around right now that you could be forgiven for having one eye on just getting to the Christmas shutdown and then seeing what the New Year has in store.
Not a lot if you believe the media!

Unfortunately the majority of the media is focused on Euro-zone crisis and Global financial meltdown. Influencing people to perhaps feel the safest place for them is to remain under the duvet! However the media are focused on averages, the inflation rate, the cost of borrowing, the lack of lending and the number of people unemployed. Figures all derived from real life circumstances but how much do they really affect you and I?

As someone who has set up his most successful business to date in times of hardship, I have never done average, I refuse to conform to the norm. The norm for this time of year is to get what you are given. No I don’t mean what Santa leaves under the Christmas tree but that you will just have to accept what business drums up as we head for the “Christmas lull”

Well I have proven on more than a few occasions that this is a rather poor view to adopt. Ever heard the saying that “Whatever everyone else is doing do the opposite!” Well that’s what I would like you to consider doing this month.

In November 2009 I met a small business owner who agreed to hire my services. After meeting with a funding organisation, Richard decided that because of the time of year and cash flow he would have to wait until the New Year before he could pay for my services. Just a week later Richard heard me speak about the opportunities available to all of us in December and how you could make massive progress by stealing a march on your competition.

As a result of that short speech Richard found the money and we started work in December.
After meeting with four large companies Richard was able to sign a “life changing contract” in early 2010. He transformed his life when he sold the business just a few months later and was able to retire aged 46 to spend more time with his wife and two year old son.

It is beyond doubt that had Richard waited until the New year to start he would have missed the opportunity to win that contract and therefore change his life forever. What opportunity will you miss this month? Taking action will put you so much further ahead of your competition and possibly uncover your life defining contract simply because buyers will not be fielding the amount of approaches they do at other times of year.

I am sure you like to think you are different to your competition. December is the perfect time of year to prove it!
