Office Party goes ahead despite gloomy outlook

This year the office party is set to be bigger and better than ever, with many bosses choosing to shun the gloomy economy by putting on a spectacular evening for their employees.

Many businesses are realizing the importance of the Christmas party, and across the country venues have seen a distinct rise spend and attendance.

Christmas parties cost an average of £90 per head for exclusive events and £65 per head for shared parties, while those outside of the capital cost an average of £79 and £45 per head respectively.

Over 70% of this years parties will also be themed, using ideas such as ‘the chocolate factory’ and ‘Viva Vegas’ to meet employee expectations. Most companies will also be seeking outside assistance to reinforce their public image.

Alasdair Adam, MD at Office Christmas, is in the timing: “Whilst companies are happy to spend money on a good Christmas party, the need to include more entertainment or stage bigger productions is met with a greater flexibility to consider off-peak dates when the most competitive rates can be secured.”

Numbers of attendees are also up on 2010, with the number of attendees at exclusive parties across the country numbering on average 158 people, up from 150 in 2010. Shared parties will contain an average in 30 people, a 4 person average on 2010.

An Office Christmas spokesperson added: “Companies are increasingly recognizing the value of the Christmas party.
