Digital agency celebrates National contract coup

A North East digital agency is celebrating after beating off national competition to help launch a new website for a well-known outdoor retail specialist.

Status Marketing have created an e-commerce site for GO Outdoors which will add to the company’s £115 million operation, including 33 superstores.

The new website was a major coup for the firm, which only formed in April 2011, and has helped then achieve 90% of its year one trading targets in just 9 months. The project has helped Status to reach a £2 million turnover in 2013.

Managing director Nick Salloway said: “We are extremely pleased with the partnership. GO Outdoors is one of the fastest growing retailers in the UK and it’s great to be working with such an exciting and ambitious brand.”

Mr Salloway attributed their successful tender of the GO Outdoors website to their work on the Visit North East England website. Thanks to their tireless efforts when working on the website, Status were credited with boosting the £4 billion that tourism adds to the regional economy.

“The project shows that although we might be a young company in name, we are a team of experienced people with a first-class track record in delivering effective and focussed digital marketing strategies.” he continued. “This is our biggest contract so far, and we could not have wished for a better start to the business.

“We set out some fairly aggressive targets when we launched so we are more than happy with the steady upward curve of contracts coming in, especially as they have all been via referrals.”

Status have also invested in online collaboration and video conference technology to reduce costs and improve services to their national client base. The firm recently also moved premises and recruited 2 new members of staff to help cope with demand.

Speaking about the new website, Mike Griffin, project manager at GO Outdoors said: “The tender for the GO Outdoors activities site was contested by developers from all over the UK.

“Status was chosen because of an excellent portfolio, great feedback from clients regarding their management of previous projects, and a proposal that we felt offered significant added value. We have found Status to be a team who deliver on their promises.”
