Passengers to benefit from Key Lifestyle partnership
Three transport providers have joined forces to form the Key Lifestyle, an innovative green transport package to help people get round the North East.
Under the scheme, Go North East passengers will save over 15% on bus travel, and will also be offered free membership on Commonwheels car and bike hire and Scratchbikes, the self service bike hire system in Newcastle.
The innovative new package will make travel around the region even easier and cheaper.
Go North East made the decision to diversify after realising the benefits the providing a more extensive service would bring, explains Matt Smith the company’s commercial director.
He commented: Passengers can now get access to cars and bikes, as well as buses. By
integrating these three main ways of travel, we can make it easier for customers to get to their next destination.
“Commonwheels and Scratch Bikes are already proving popular and we believe these
partnerships will be very successful.”
Teaming up with Go North East is also a positive move for new business Scratchbikes.
CEO Rob Grisdale added: “We have been supported by Newcastle NE1 which has helped get us off the ground but we believe getting involved with Key Lifestyle will really help establish and promote our brand and encourage more people in Newcastle to embrace flexible, cost-effective travel.”
Director of Commonwheels Richard Falconer also hopes that the will encourage more people to think about the methods of transport they are using.
He commented: “This new package should make people think about how they travel in the region.
“You can now get a bus to work and if you require a car, then you can hire one from Commonwheels from as little as half an hour or as long as you wish. It’s a cheaper alternative to taxis and car parking fees and creates easier, stress-free travel.
“We are pleased to be partnering with Go North East and look forward to welcoming our new Key Lifestyle customers.”
The Key Lifestyle package is available to everyone with The Key smartcard, which can be applied for easily online. The money comes directly out of the passenger’s bank account every month saving them the hassle of having to get a new ticket every month, week or day.
