2012 is Year for NorthEast Businesses says survey

Chartered Management Accountants in the North East of England are the most positive about their businesses’ future in 2012 according to the latest Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Qualified Salary Survey for 2011 released today. Chartered Management Accountants in the region are not only most likely to expect their businesses to offer salary increases over the next year, but also expect an increase in recruitment and more money available for investment.

According to the CIMA Qualified Salary Survey 2011, 32% of the region’s Chartered Management Accountants report they expect their businesses to be offering salary increases over the next 12 months which is 2% more than London and 13% more than in the North West. 28% also expect to see an increase in staff recruitment, compared to just 8% in the East of England.

The survey also showed that the most businesses in the North East (26%) felt they would have more money available for future investment in 2012 and were least likely to farm out work , just 8% thought they would be outsourcing more compared to 25% in the South East.

In the North East Chartered Management Accountants themselves also fared well with the survey showing they have the highest level of pay outside London and the South East. This week, CIMA members and students attended a presentation and training event at the Newcastle University Business School on how to support their businesses in 2012 and beyond through the development of management accounting in response to the threat of global climate change.

CIMA’s North East England Regional Chairman, Paul Sykes, says, “This is great news for those in the North East. Organisations are increasingly turning to finance professionals, and chartered management accountants in particular, to help drive them through the downturn and on to sustainable success in the future.”

CIMA run a series of events for students, members and guests throughout the North East of England and across the UK on a regular basis across the year. For further information visit www.cimaglobal.com/localevents
