Save costs of £10,000 per-annum and increase profits?

This seems to be a very bold claim but businesses can save thousands of pounds each year with only a little effort by focussing on stripping out wasted activity and through better workplace organisation. Such processes improve productivity and process flow, reduce costs and make better use of the space available, hence increasing profitability for firms.

Organised Workplaceheaded by Neil Radbourne provides advice on the introduction of lean activities in all types of businesses and organisations. Neil is currently working with two firms of chartered accountants in the North East of England to configure their offices more efficiently. Not only will the firms derive a reduction in costs and increase in profit but they will also gain health benefits such as reduced stress and reduced overtime working when the new processes are in place. Organised Workplace has helped companies with their growth and development, so its good news all round.

The further good news is that both these ‘lean’ training projects have been partially funded by a grant from NBSL which manages the North East Leadership and Management Advisory Service. NBSL is a D-BIS (Department of Business, Innovation and Skills) approved and regulated Local Enterprise Agency and over the last eight years the organisation has delivered the L & M programme, funded by D-BIS’s Skills Funding Agency. Under NBSL this programme has gone from strength to strength, engaging directly with more than 1,000 SMEs each year.

NBSL has secured ERDF investment of £2.38 million to continue to deliver support to the North East’s private sector businesses employing between 2 – 249 employees, and funding is still available which provides grant support of up to £1,000 for business leaders who need coaching for growth.

The access to funding has never been easier; applicants just need to fill in one simple two-sided form and the team at NBSL work quickly to deliver a decision prior to start of any training activity. For one of Organised Workplace’s clients the decision on the funding was made in only two days which included a personal visit from a NBSL representative.

As Neil commented, “The application process is quick, simple and easy; this makes such a refreshing change from previous funded programmes. Many thanks to the NBSL team on their diligence and prompt action”.

NBSL still has limited funding available to support businesses, so if you would like to benefit from grant funding of up to £1,000 towards the cost of developing a strategy for your business, and get your business on the road to growth, contact NBSL now on 01670 813322 or apply online at www.nbsl.org.uk
